DesignFiles pricing in 2026: the verified numbers, and what the aggregators get wrong

DesignFiles is one of the few products in this category that actually publishes its prices — and it runs the biggest comparison blog in interior design software. Which makes it genuinely odd that the third-party sites ranking for its own pricing query still contradict each other, and the live site. So we did the boring thing: we fetched designfiles.co/plans on 2026-07-30 and wrote down exactly what it says.

What DesignFiles costs today

The absence of an annual tier is deliberate. Where most competitors discount an annual commitment, DesignFiles sells the opposite — no commitment at all — and pairs it with a 90-day money-back guarantee:

The $20 gap: what Full Service adds over e-Design

The two tiers share the entire design toolkit: unlimited projects, moodboards, floor plans, 3D renderings, the product clipper, client questionnaires, the client portal, branded presentations, contracts, shoppable product lists, design-package selling and task management are all on both. The extra $20 a month buys the back office — everything you need once you start procuring furniture rather than just recommending it:

• Quotes and invoices/retainers — e-Design can only take payment for pre-packaged services
• Purchase orders and requests for quotes
• Spec sheets and the product tracker
• Financial reporting and QuickBooks integration
• Time tracker
• ACH payments — e-Design accepts credit-card payment for packages only; Full Service takes credit card and ACH

Read that list as a business-model test, not a feature list. If your revenue is fixed-scope e-design packages, the $55 tier honestly covers the whole workflow — this is the use case DesignFiles was built around and where it is strongest. The moment you order product on a client's behalf, you need POs, tracking and reconciliation, and you are on the $75 tier.

What the aggregators claim vs what the live page says

We checked the pages that currently outrank the vendor for this query, on the same day we checked the vendor. None of them matches the live site:

There is a small irony here: DesignFiles' own blog publishes more software comparisons than anyone else in the category, yet the listings about DesignFiles are stale. It is a good illustration of the only rule that works for pricing research — trust the vendor's own pricing page with a date on it, and nothing else.

Seat maths at one, three and five people

Base price covers one user; each additional user is $30 a month on either tier. Here is what that comes to at real team sizes, with our own flat pricing alongside for contrast:

Annualised, a five-person studio on Full Service pays $2,340 a year. Two honest observations cut both ways. First, DesignFiles' $30 seat fee is one of the gentler ones in the category — half of Houzz Pro's $60 per user, and a solo or two-person studio will find DesignFiles cheaper than almost anything comparable. Second, per-seat billing still means every hire raises your software bill, and at three people the flat-priced alternative already costs less on the tier most firms need.

Trial, guarantee and cancellation terms

• Free account, no card. The plans page says "Create a FREE account — NO credit card required", and the homepage adds "No credit card required. Cancel anytime."
• No stated trial length. Neither the plans page nor the signup page publishes a trial duration or the limits of the free account. The signup flow's own code references a plan called "free", which suggests an untimed free account you upgrade from rather than a countdown — but since the limits aren't published, we won't invent them.
• 90-day money-back guarantee on paid plans — unusually long for this category, and the stronger protection in practice.
• Month-to-month billing, cancel anytime. There is no annual contract to exit, which also means there is no annual discount to weigh.

Is DesignFiles worth it?

For its core audience, genuinely yes. The e-design workflow — questionnaire in, moodboard and shoppable product list out, package paid by card through the client portal — is the most complete implementation of that specific business model we have seen, and at $55 a month it is priced below most of the category. The plans page shows a 4.8/5 "value for money" score across 525+ Capterra ratings, and for once the marketing claim and the third-party number point the same way.

Choose DesignFiles if

• Your revenue is mostly fixed-scope e-design packages — the $55 tier covers that business end to end
• You are a solo or two-person studio — at that size the per-seat model is actually in your favour
• You want month-to-month billing with a long money-back window rather than an annual commitment

Choose something else if

• You need CRM or accounting — DesignFiles' own FAQ states both are "currently not a part of the DesignFiles software" (QuickBooks connects, but it is a separate subscription)
• You are a team of three or more and want a software bill that does not grow with headcount
• You need permit-ready drawings. DesignFiles' floor plans and 3D renderings are presentation tools for clients — they are not construction documentation, and there is no reflected ceiling plan capability at all

How NYA compares

We should be clear about the shape of the difference, because it is not "same product, cheaper." DesignFiles is built around selling and presenting e-design; NYA is built around RCP and permit documentation — drawings a contractor and a plan checker can actually use — with flat per-firm pricing on top: $49 a month solo, $129 for up to five seats, no per-user fee, and a 7-day trial with no card.
